This is my first week in my digital storytelling class and we have to come up with our own imaginary world. Our first prompt assignment for the week was to do the database page along with an instagram post. This page asks us about the kind of world we'd like to retreat to, about our likes and dislikes about the current world, different eras in history, and what invokes wonder in us. It also provided us with seventeen different categories to help us break down our thoughts and create our world.
I found some of these questions and categories easy, while others were difficult and left me thinking about them with nothing written on the page because I was thinking about them so intently. The categories I considered easy were books, movies, colors, and animals. These were easy because I love to read and will read almost anything whether it is for entertainment or informative purposes. The colors category was also easy because I have favored the same three colors since I was 5 years old; pink, blue, and purple. The animal category is the same as the color category, I have favored the same animal my entire life, BEARS! I also love dogs, manatees, and whales, but am a person who loves all animals. Finally, the easiest category was people. The people I love the most are my family, friends, and babies but my absolute favorite person is my Mom.
The question I found to be the hardest to answer was my list about the things I like and dislike about the current world. I feel like I have a love/hate relationship with the world sometimes and depending on my mood that day it can change like the temperature here in Johnstown. I feel like some things I love, like different cultures and the love that people have for each other and animals, are the good that outweighs the bad things in the world, like pollution and discrimination and terrorist attacks. I think if people focus too much on the bad and negative in the world then it will just get worse so instead we need to focus on the good and positive like when people come together. I think this will be an important aspect in my imaginary world.
